What was the Bathroom like Before and What were Some Challenges about the Space?
As you can see in the photo, the bathroom was quite a large four-piece master bathroom with the drop-in tub, red drop-in tub, smaller shower, and awkwardly positioned space. The constraints were that we wanted to keep plumbing fairly within the same place. We didn’t want to move the toilet — we kept the toilet in an existing location. We did move the shower drain, relocated that, but again in a fairly similar location to the existing location of the shower. Then the tub got slightly moved to a different wall, but again nothing uber extraordinary. And all in all, the bathroom became a little bit more open, but keeping the plumbing, keeping the plumbing in the same space.
Why Did the Client Want to Renovate their Bathroom?
The house is in Bell’s Corners, a beautiful neighbourhood in Ottawa. Our client Marco wanted to keep his house up-to-date, so he decided to finally renovate. We renovated both bathrooms on this — is just an example of the four-piece bathroom. And it’s as simple as to keep the house up-to-date and make it enjoyable, make it easy to maintain, and make it something that should client once in 10 years to sell, it is still gonna be relevant.

What was the Scope of Work?
We have gutted the bathroom to its core. We removed the bulkheads that were unnecessary. We removed all the fixtures, such as the corner vanity, wood vanity with medicine cabinets, with linen towers. I jokingly want to say that I almost miss the 1980s Soprano style red tub with carpeted deck, but nobody really misses that — it’s a joke. We removed the old acrylic enclosure shower, and tiled on the floor extra large shower — sorry, not necessarily an extra large shower, but a larger shower — and the freestanding tub. The toilet remained in its place. And then, feature vanity with two linen towers for extra storage and openness of the bathroom.
The design shift was very simple: modern functionality. That was the key focus. We’ve used elements such as, let’s say, tiles on the floor and tiles on the wall. They’re very patterny, they’re very classical, there is the Eastern influence in these tiles. They work beautifully with the color of the vanity. All in all, you could see that the bathroom became, looks bigger, it’s a lot more functional, it’s a lot more — it is something that combines both traditional and classical colors and style, as well as cleanliness of 2026. So again, if client wants to sell this in ten years, it’s going to be a very relevant bathroom.
What are the Standout Details?
The standout details come down to craft and care. This bathroom is a simple example of what happens when the work is done well, at the right pace, with the right products and materials.
We did not cut corners on materials, and we made sure to use quality products throughout the renovation. We also used a lot of Schluter, which is always a good choice because it helps prevent cracking and leaking over time.
The most important detail is the mindset behind the work: do not rush, stay focused on what you are doing, and put real care into every step. When the work comes from the heart, it shows. You can see it in the pictures — it is another beautiful bathroom, finished with attention, care, and pride.
Were There any Issues on Site?
There was an element where your humble servant, me, did not properly measure and provide my supplier with the size of the glass door, so I ordered the wrong glass doors and we had a little bit of a delay, about two weeks, and had to order a new set of doors, came back and installed it. But our client was very patient and there’s really no issue with it.
What is the Result of the Bathroom Renovation?
Marco is very happy, he let us do two bathrooms and currently we’re planning another job for him at another one of his properties. So the human outcome is very simple — we’ve done our job, we looked after the customer, and the customer is happy.
So that is the overview of the four-piece bathroom for our client Marco. And it’s just beautiful. Stay tuned for the next project for the same customer.
