Choosing Function Over Form in Newly Built Home

“While it’s important to create a beautiful space, it must remain functional and serve the needs of homeowners and their lifestyles.”

When renovating your bathroom, it’s easy to get carried away by all of the new trends, styles, and designs. After all, who doesn’t dream of a beautiful freestanding tub and how it makes the bathroom so clean and modern? Nevertheless, besides the excitement of a beautiful new bathroom design, we must not forget that the bathroom is a room of function and it needs to serve our needs first and foremost.

At iBathrooms, we understand that bathroom renovation is not just about aesthetics but about creating a space that meets your practical needs. That’s why we always try to find a balance between functionality in our bathroom renovation projects and beauty. And sometimes functionality takes a first seat.

The Bathroom Before

Recently, we had the pleasure of working with a client who had a beautiful freestanding tub in her new home, but the tub was small, and not very comfortable and most of its appeal was its looks. Our clients wanted a more comfortable soaker tub to be able to relax and unwind after long days at work.

As we discussed the project more and more, it became apparent that while the freestanding tub was undeniably gorgeous, it wasn’t the most practical choice for our client’s needs. The decision was to remove the freestanding tub and replace it with a traditional drop-in tub and tile surround. Since we were not doing a full bathroom renovation, but just a partial tub replacement, we wanted to make sure that the finished project looked as if the new drop-in tub was always part of the bathroom and not an afterthought.

Replacing Freestanding Spa Tub with a Drop-in Tub

Drop-in tubs are designed to be installed within a surrounding tiled deck, providing a seamless integration with the rest of the bathroom, and connecting the tub deck with tiled flooring. Drop-in tubs typically have a deeper basin than freestanding tubs, making them ideal for luxurious soaking experiences.

We wanted to make the new drop-in tub look just right and we went on the quest to find the exact tile as the flooring tile and match both tub deck tiles with the tile on the bathroom floor. Luckily for us and our client, the house was a recent build and we easily found the exact tile at EuroTile and Stone. With all of the above, our client ultimately pulled the trigger on removing a beautiful freestanding tub and replacing it with a drop-in tub. The function won over the form! After a few weeks of preparation and ordering of all of the materials, we proceeded with installing a drop-in tub that perfectly complemented the overall design of her bathroom.

Final Results – Bringing Happiness to Our Client

What is the result you ask? A beautiful and functional space that exceeded our client’s expectations and enhanced her life.

This project is a good example that in bathroom renovations, practicality should never be sacrificed for the sake of beauty. While it’s important to create a beautiful space, it must remain functional and serve the needs of homeowners and their lifestyles.

At iBathrooms, it is our goal to deliver bathroom renovations that strike the perfect balance between form and function.

Thank you for taking the time to review this project and we will see you at the next one.
